| Hi Ian, I doubt that we do connect - at least in the past 200 years or so. My family of Priddle arrived in Newfoundland sometime between 1800 and 1810. I have managed to trace them back to an Edward Priddle who was a witness at St. Paul's Church in Harbour Grace, Newfoundland in 1810. I have no wife's name for him although I have searched our Provincial Archives looking for her. There are so few Priddles here in Newfoundland I think they are all related, however I have no proof of this. The names are very similar to the ones on your site - Jacob(my gggrandfather), George (my ggrandfather) - George in particular was very common here in Newfoundland. I'm not even sure where we originate from in the U.K. - Sommerset, Dorset maybe Wales - all I know is that my family immigrated to Newfoundland and became fisherman - what they were in the U.K. I have no idea. Thanks for replying. I had checked out your website just a couple of weeks ago - very informative and interesting - but as I said earlier when you don't know where in the U.K. your family originated it's kind of hard to make a connection back that far. Thanks Judy Parab |
