After reading the other replies, I offer the following further observations: Marriage of Joseph & Isabella Preston (c.1797 as per initial message) - IGI 07 Jul 1794. When the IGI advises a baptism for Kendal prior to 1813, it means the parish of Kendal rather than the town itself. I would recommend that you cross-check with the original PRs to find out where they lived at the time. The post 1837 registration district of Kendal covers the parishes of Kendal, Kirkby Lonsdale, Heversham, Beetham, Burton, Windermere and Grasmere. This makes it difficult to find the death of an ancestor before the age is provided from 1865. Regards, Chris
