I am having trouble finding the lineage of my ancestor, Juliet Waring. I know from ancient family records (my great-grandmother’s) they are Thomas and Mary Waring, but I don’t know which Thomas and Mary. They are supposed to be cousins, as per the OUR FAMILY CIRCLE BOOK, now known to be riddled with errors.

I am having a hard time with Juliet’s father, Thomas Waring. It seems as if a Thomas Waring who died: March 17th 1821 or 1824 fits. His father was (probably) Thomas Waring who died about 1753, although a Richard and a Benjamin have also been listed. His mother was (probably) Mary Baber, although Mary Somers, Sarah Waring and Sarah Smith have been noted (also a Martha Unknown) at various rootsweb family trees. I am lost after that because I don’t know which lines to follow to go after the proper documentation

Can anyone please help me with this? I have Juliet’s husband, William Stevens Smith, and his family strongly documented, but not Juliet. It looks as if these two are cousins several times over and I’m quite interested. According to my Family Tree Maker Kinship Report, I am Juliet’s 4th great grand daughter and her 3rd cousin 5 times removed and her 4th cousin 4 times removed and several more kinships! I would love to accurately prove this info as much as possible.

As far as Juliet’s mother, Mary Waring, is concerned, it is pretty much accepted that her parents were Benjamin Waring and Sarah Smith, although her date of birth and date of death seem sketchy. Her father, Benjamin Waring’s parents are pretty much “proven” to be Benjamin Waring and Anne Axtel Smith, from what I can tell. It seems that he was born abt. 1723 and died abt. 1763. Her mother, Sarah Smith’s parents are also pretty well documented as Archar Smith and Edith Waring. Edith’s father may have been Benjamin Waring and her mother may be named Elizabeth. I would also love to more about this Waring line, as well.

Thanks so much for your help!
