Tracing family history back to Summerville, South Carolina. My great grandmother Jennie Waring met Thomas J Rodgers, a black or mulatto army enlistee from Kentucky who got her pregnant (we think) and moved her to Springfield, OH where they married and lived for 50 years. She never spoke of her family again and was disinherited. All leads stop with South Carolina birth around 1872. My mother seems to remember mention of Summerville, SC. Anyone with missing family member from that time period? Jennie or Virginia Waring?
