Thank you for this. I did a Save as and included the .exe and exited FTM then ran the image and restarted FTM - the enhanced viewer was then in place and works (happens to be 2010 Beta). Frankly, I had pretty much forgotten about the issue and the solution is a bit of a duhhh I could have tried that but was expecting it to just work as it had on XP.
