I am looking for the baptism/christening of John Mawby who lived in Colmworth from 1834-1870 with his wife Henrietta Simpson. They were married in Wilden, Bdf.

John gave his place of birth as London (1851 Census) and Colmworth (1861 Census). He recorded that he was born in Bedfordshire in the 1841 census.

There was a Mawby family living in Wilden around the time of his birth. They had a son Thomas born around the right time. Could Thomas be John ?

Any help in finding his baptism/christening and further ancestry would be appreciated.

Sorry, but I think it will take a lot of work to prove that Thomas baptised at Wilden is actually John born either London or Colmworth.

Have you seen the marriage entry at Wilden? Who were the witnesses? What was John's parish of residence?

David

Surnames: James Brown 1814 and Isabella Humes
I noticed on your family tree that you have some of my ancestors from South Hylton listed i.e. James Brown b. 1814 - 1897 and his wife Isabella Humes 1814 - 1891. Although I am still trying to locate the parents of James Brown, I have traced the Humes line further back to Robert Holmes born before 1670. Some of this still needs some work to confirm accuracy. Is this of any interest to you?

James Brown is on my wife's family line. The information I have gathered is from the Census material. I had yet to identify Isabella's surname so anything her marriage to James and on her wider family would be appreciated.
