From looking at the 1841-1861 census, it appears there were several families with this surname. I'm trying to find out more about Martha
Darrington, born 1827 in Bedfordshire. There is a Martha
Darrington in the IGI, baptized 1827 in
Roxton. Only a mother listed, that being Mary
Darrington. I don't know if this means Martha was born out of wedlock. I also found a court record on a Martha
Darrington, correct age, who was found guilty of stealing shoes in 1843. She got six months hard labor.
The Martha I seek married John
Crow(e) about 1852, although I've found no marriage record. Their oldest child, George
Crowe, was born in 1852. The family moved twice in the 1860s, first to Herefordshire and then to
Shropshire.
I found a record at the
UK archives that MAY be related to Martha's mother, Mary
Darrington. "EATON SOCON
