George Long died Maulden 1941

Hi,
Trying to find out more on George Long. He was my grandmother's step-grandfather. He didn't marry her grandmother so there's no marriage certificate to order. Her name was Sarah Silverstone. She was married to Marks Waxman and later lived with Frederick Edler as husband and wife, but again no marriage. She may have been known by any of these names.
I've been told that George died in 1941 at the age of 64 and was buried in Maulden. I haven't found a birth for him in Bedfordshire around 1877 so he may well have been born outside the county. The death is a little late to appear on the GRO index.
Does anyone have any Longs in their tree from this area or know anything about this man?
All help very much appreciated.

Marriage Thomas Cheshire to Mary Ann Withers

I am trying to obtain the Volume # & Page # to order the certificate for Thomas Cheshire's marriage to Mary Ann Withers on the 21st August 1836. I can find details of this marriage at FamilySearch.org batch #M005072 which does not appear to supply the volume and page. I cannot find it anywhere else. Can anyone else find these numbers. All assistance appreciated.

i am at a dead end,i am doin my grandfathers family and his grandparents were william jackson and mary ann walpole,i have ordered their marriage certificate and this is where i have become stuck,witness to the wedding were william offord and henry p reeves....mary ann walpoles' mother was sara who later married william offord,sarah offor gave consent to the marriage between william jackson and mary ann walpole as mary was only aout 15-16 yrs old,william is looking to have been born around 1838...i havent been able to find much out about him,though on his marriage certificate it says they lived at LARLE FARM near berrima nsw,on one of their childrens birth certificate it says they were living at theresa park......im starting to wonder due to the fact that sarah walpole married william offord in 1854 if sarah was marys' mother or maybe her sister....has anyone came across these people

John appears in the 1901 census for Pontypridd, with his family, described as age 39 born Luton, Beds. Nearest record found in Free BMD, for Luton, is for a John Humphrey b 1859, vol 3b, p432.This may or may not be him. As we don't know his parents confirmation will be difficult.
Does anyone recognise this person or can throw any light on him at all. The surname may also be spelt Humphreys or Humphries. In the 1901 census he calls himself Jno, but this has been indexed as Ino. Other persons mentioned in the census are Mary43 (wife), Jno13 (son), Martha10, Albert2 and Minnie 1.
Trying to locate his correct birth record and his family.
Would like to hear from anyone with information, or who thinks he might be an ancestor of theirs too.

James BOND of Wollaston (Northamptonshire) married Martha PRATT of Harrold (Bedfordshire) in 1800. They had children Lydia, William, Frederick and Feliz (Felix) BOND. William and Frederick (at least) later moved to Irchester (Northamptonshire) where their descendants were still living in 1851 and 1881.

William's son Thomas emigrated to Victoria, Australia in 1850. I am looking for any descendants or anyone interested in the family.

I'm trying to find the parents of both Charles Horn and Ann Mahalah who were married. Charles was born about 1852 in Eaton Bray, Bedfordshire, and Ann was born about 1854 in Billingdon, Bedfordshire. Thomas Jarvis - Brewer

I am trying to trace backwards the descendants of My 3 x Grandfather Charles Jarvis. His father John Jarvis was born in Eaton Socon around 1801, the only John Jarvis born around that time was a John Jarvis christened 23 Oct 1803 but another sibling was christened the same date who states born in 1803 on census so assuming that these was brothers and John was born before Thomas it fits nicely.

From what I can trace there is a Thomas Jarvis Brewer who appears to be quite wealthy and own a few pubs in and around Bedford and his sons carry on the Brewery business at least until the 1910s. Thomas married his second wife Eliza Page on the 30th July 1844 St Peter, Bedford, the IGI record does not state Father of Thomas. Before I get excited about claiming a richish relative has anyone got access to these parish records who can quote the father for me. Or is anyone researching this family from Eaton Socon and around Little Staughton

Just got the proof that my 4 x great grandfather was Joseph Stringer born in Colmworth, Bedfordshire. He married a Sybil (various spellings), according to information given to the Family search website she was a Stock. I have found the IGI very hit and miss and only have some baptisms and some marriages, not the one I want or the baptisms I want. They appear to be a quite prolific family in Colmworth so its quite difficult to match any of them up.

Does anybody have Joseph on their tree or any Stringer's from Colmworth, unfort. the Bedford FHS only sell microfilche of their parish records and I do not have a microfilche reader or even one I can borrow. I have just noted I may be able to get hard copies from Luton and Bedford Archives so I am going to see how much it will cost me. But in the mean time would be glad of anyone who knows this family.

One quick strange thing on the 1841 census he has 4 boys living with him all beginning with J, Josiah, Jabez, Jacob and John the known missing child is Rebecca my 3 x Great Grandmother who was a servant in 1841 and not living at home....perhaps biblical names?

Researching Allen surname from England. My grandfather was Raymond Allen (born 1895-1896), married Ellen Kathleen Dickins (born 1891). Raymond's parents were George Allen and Anne Emma Butcher. Ellen's parents were Lewis Dickins and Sarah Ames. Raymond and Ellen sailed to Canada in 1929.

Married Ellen Kathleen Dickins (born 1891) in 1919. Her parents were Lewis Dickins (born 1865) and Sarah Ames. Raymond and Ellen sailed to Canada in 1929.

I have an ancestor, Eliza SHERWODD, nee STYLES who was born in Harlington abt 1805. The 1851 Census has her birthplace as Harlington Middlesex and the 1861 as either Arlington or Harlington (its not clear) Middlesex.

Modern references I have checked indicate that Harlington is in Bedfordshire.

Are the Middlesex Harlington of my ancestor and the Bedfordshire Harlington the same place?

I have Elizabeth Richardson b.1834 Maulden, Beds. daughter of John and Mary Richardson. I've been unable to find a marriage date for John and Mary, but have found an extracted entry for John's christening 1790, in Maulden which would match with his age on the census returns. If this is the same John then his parents are John and Lydia but I can't find their marriage either.

William Brunt was born 1780. he married Jane Buntling ( born 1793) on 21 Feb 1818.
Their son, Joseph, was born 20 Jun 1819 in Old Warden, Bedfordshire, England.
Joseph, his wife, Emma, and their son, William, left Liverpool on the ship Norman and entered the New York Port on 13 Apr 1839.
In 1850, the family was living in Woodbridge, Middlesex, New Jersey.

Any information on the family in England would be greatly appreciated.

Boston family from Stevington, Bedford

I'm looking for information on the Boston family who lived at Stevington and were on the 1841 Census. The mother was Elizabeth with children, Mary, Sarah, Emma, Thomas, Lehannah and George. I'm particularly interested in Thomas Boston born about 1818 in Souldrop and his sister Emma born about 1815 in Bolnhurst who are on the 1851 Census as Cattle Dealer and Instructor to children. My GGGrandmother was one Sarah Sparks born about 1826 in Bedfordshire. She married William Bradbury in 1842 in St Mary Newington Southwark London and can be traced through the 1851, 61, 71, 81 and 91 census records till her death in 1899.

On her marriage certificate it states she is a "Minor" and that her father one James Sparks is deceased.

Any assistance in tracking her family in Bedforshire would be greatly appreciatd.

I am searching for the parents of Mary Ann Smith who married James Lavender in 1823 in Goldington, Bedford, England. She was listed as being of the parish. I found a parish record for a Mary Smith 31 Oct 1802 Goldington; parents William and Sarah Smith; but this Mary Smith died December 24 in 1802 if I read the parish register correctly; however, many family members have traced that line. Older family records showed her birth as Dec 1803 in Jolington, Bedford, England. I have never found a Jolington. I realize the name is very common, but if anyone has any guidance I would appreciate it.

I'm trying to trace, for a friend, the family of Doreen Freda PEACOCK, born
1916, birth registered in Wandsworth (Doreen's mother's maiden name was
Holland).

Doreen married in 1935 and her married name was BAYLIS but this marriage
broke up a few years later. There was also a connection with the surname of
ROWLATT and a child born in Bath in 1945.

to all that replied to my previous post re Arthur McDonald I can now add, I have found his place of birth and obtained a copy of his birth cert. He was born in Melbourne Victoria Aust. on 27th.May1882 mothers name
Catherine McDonald aged 28 father unknown.
He was baptised at the Christ Church Brunswick on 26th. October 1884 and informally adopted by the Woodbridge fanily who lived in Brunswick Victoria.
I have not been able to find out any more about Catherine as she did not disclose her parents names on any certificates and her place of birth is unclear (hard to read)if there are any persons researching McDonald with
a Catherine living in Brunswick/Melbourne and thinkthere may be a connection please contact me.

I am trying to reseach the family of Henry Alfred WOOD and Emily GARDNER who immigrated to Australia in 1900. Henry and Emily were both born in Luton in 1872 and were in the hat making trade. They sucessfully continued this business in Sydney. Henry's father was Frederick WOOD b.1847 and his mother's name was Rosetta b.1847 - don't know her maiden name.

BMD shows they married in 1963 in Luton. They had children Lucy, Lizzey, William Henry and Robert A in Rockhampton Australia before moving to Sydney where Amos/Christiana/Lizzey are buried at Rookwood. Missing marriage: Robison/Newton

I am trying to trace the marriage and issue, if any, of Stanley Douglas Robison and Jessie Newton. Stanley was born 1885, in Islington and Jessie (my grandfather's aunt) in 1889, Wood Green, Middlesex.

By the 1940s they were living in Luton. I have not been able to find out when or where they married, although I have searched from about 1905 through to the late 1920s. I have no idea whether they had any children, as most of the information that I have about them comes from a single letter written to my grandfather while he was serving in Egypt in WWII. I'd be grateful for any leads whatsoever.
