My great grandmother was Isabella Matilda Smith (nee Dearlove) She was present at the death of a George Dearlove aged 47 on 29/12/1869 at 47 Bedford Street Reading Berks. He was present at the charge of the light brigade being a private (no 1055) in 13th Light Dragoons. Entitled to 4 x Crimean medals and the Turkish medal and the French War Medal and long service and good conduct medals (21/08/1862). Had a Mrs Dearlove at 10 Cheltenham Buildings Horn Lane Reading where he had resided after service and sister C. Dearlove 20 Andover Place Camberwell London. Cannot find out any more such as what relation he was and who were the two persons mentioned above. Was he married and was Isabella his daughter?

Hi Tania,

You are an Angel - many thanks for your work. Yes I am beginning to think George may be Isabella's Uncle.
What is IGI, Please? How can I download 50 records from that source or do I not need to? Still learning at this game.
Susie

Hi Susie

You search IGI at address below. Note that extracts from BMD is the most reliable information, some of the information is put on by members and researches and is not always reliable. The download 50 records was a cut and paste error on my part.

IGI = International Genealogy Index

Information from Wikipedia
The International Genealogical Index (IGI) is a database of genealogical records, compiled from several sources, and maintained by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Originally created in 1969, the index was intended to help track the performance of temple ordinances for the deceased.

The IGI contains information submitted for vicarious ordinances by LDS researchers, records obtained from contributors who are not members of the church, and data extracted from microfilmed birth or marriage records. The index contains millions of records of individuals who lived between 1500 and 1900, primarily in the United States, Canada, and Europe.

The IGI contains many duplicate names, accumulated over time from many sources. Many IGI records contain information on the submitter and date of submission. The IGI is available at FamilySearch, the LDS genealogy website

Cheers

Many Many thanks for all the info on George Dearlove. Still not able to find the link between Matilda Isabella Smith (Dearlove) who was at his bedside at his death in Reading in 1852. She had married my Paternal Great Grandfather Benjamin Smith the year before.
