John Jarmey was born around 1840 in England. He married an Ellen (Unknown) around 1863 in Reading, Berkshire. Their six children were christened at St. Mary's. Their names were John, Alfred, Frederick F., Sarah Jane, Ellen and Louis. My great grandfather came to Michigan in the United States and married a Canadian of the name Marie Phebe Josephine Hebert. I would like to find information about John and his ancestory as well as his children and their decendants.

Jarmey is such an uncommon name and ironically, my grand mothers maiden name was Jarmey. She has passed away, but possibly it rings a bell? She was born in 1906 and passed away in St Joseph County, MI I believe in 1998. I have been searching for any information on that side of my family. She was married to Frank Buongiorno (Chicago) in the 1920's.

Hey Richard!
I don't have any known relative that matches your grand mother. What was her first name?
We have a Jarmey that was I think born in Birmingham, England about 1820 - 1830 and settled somewhere in Onterio, Canada where my G-Grandfather Frederick was born around 1852. He had a brother named Louis I think. Frederick died sometime before 1822 in Michagan. He was married to a Josephine Hebert that was born in 1867 in Pain Court, Onterio, Canada.

After all this time this is as far as I have gotten for abdditional information. My grandmother Ida Judkins married a Thomas Jarmy. I am assuming this to have been very late 1920's and as late as 1938. They all have roots in MI and also IL. Thomas and Ida adopted a female (3 months old) and named her Darlene). It is unknown when Thomas died and Ida passed away in 1999. HOWEVER, the last name was spelled JARMY (no E). Not sure if any of this might ring a bell at all.
Thanks, Rich

HI THERE, My garndmothers maiden name was also Jarmey and it certainly is unusual. We are stuck at the moment as my grandmother lived in England born in 1905 and her father was William Jarmey. Do you know where the Jarmey name is from originally?

The name Jarmey (Jermy, Jarmy) seams to come from England. I have a GG grandfather Henry Jarmy that was born abt 1815 in London or Birmingham and imigrated to Toronto Canada in 1840.

Unfortunately, I can only trace my Jarmy's back to MI and have not been able to go back any further. I do recall my grandmother saying that ancestor were from England though :-)

Do you know of any of Henry jarmey's ancestors that were called William by any chance. Guessing he may have been born 1870's as my grandmother was born Eva Jarmey in 1905?

Unfortunately I do not. All of the male Jarmy's that I have information for have the first name of Thomas and middle of Henry. They were senior's or juniors. Sorry, but I have run into a wall going back any further than Thomas Henry Jarmy, Sr., born February 23, 1870 in MI. He was married to Frances Theresa Blaskie, born March 17, 1886, place of birth unknown
