Lowings wife 28 (I think this age must be wrong)
Both born Gamlingay
If you check
http://freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.plthere's a marriage in the September quarter 1870 in Caxton registration district (which includes Gamlingay) of Thomas
Lowings where one of the other parties is Mary
Ibbott. You need the marriage cert to find out who the fathers were and also to confirm that
Ibbott was Mary's maiden name (if she was a widow that fact should be stated and her maiden name given). You could also buy Herbert's birth cert which will also give his mother's maiden name - it would be safer to get this first just in case Mary
Ibbott died and Thomas remarried another Mary, although I can't see a second marriage for Thomas. On the face of it though, your mother's grandmother wasn't Mary
Daisley.
In 1861 there's a Thomas
Lowings 21 ag lab b Gamlingay son of Gabriel
Lowings 49 and Elizabeth
Lowings 48 both born Gamlingay, living in Gamlingay. There's also a Mary
Hibbett 10 daughter of John 60 and Eliza 37 all born Gamlingay living at Gamlingay
Sinks.

David
