Can anyone shed any light on a grant of rights to a Cottage and property in Ickleton the address mentions Red Lion (assumed Inn) West Street. These people are referred too Sarah Cornell to John Rayner 1679 and Joseph Rider to Elizabeth Ward (his sister) 1721.

Where did you find this reference? Is there any more detail?

David

A search of the Cmbridge County Council Archive Catalogue shows the files Ref L69/3 covering what appears to be several entries relating to this property.

These look like deeds which formed part of the chain of title to the property. The property passed either by sale/gift or by inheritance. You'd need to get copies of the deeds in question to get more detail

the Hawkes family owned this Pub in 1800s + over 100 others - most were taken over by Ind Coope Benskins. did you happen to see a Hawkes & Co blue sign in the Pub?
I live in Australia so a bit far to go and look!!
Just found your message when asking the same question

Hi Jenny

Like you I am in Australia so can't answer the Blue Hawkes & Co Sign.

From the documents which I have it appears that the Riders may only have had the Cottage and nothing else.

Thanks
Syd
