I know this family history well. Sophia Bossons was my mothers great grandmother, the reason why she was born in Chester gaol was because of debt. It was quite common in those days, Sophia was always deeply ashamed of the fact. She was a lovely gentle woman with redhair.

I know your message was written 7 years ago but I'm trying to find more info on my g-g-g-grandfather Richard Bosson, born 1830/1/2 in Haslington and think this may be the same one as yours. I am trying to trace his birth. Info on his wedding to Elizabeth Lewis which I have just got hold of lists his father as Joseph Bosson whereas in the 1841 census he is shown living with James and Elizabeth Bosson. I had previously assumed they were his parents which tallies with the info you have. Do you have definite info about his birth?
