Has anyone any information about the Mersey View park that was opened in about 1865 by the Parker-Hoose family. Family lore has it that my grandafther was employed there as a child.
Regards

My name is Lynn.
My 3x grt granddad Robert briscoe owned all the land that Mersey View was on and he opened a pleasure park, plus other things too. In his will he left all of Mersey View to his daughter Sarah. She married William Parker and then a William Hoose. Apparantly she passed the pleasure park on to her daughter Annie who married a Bate. I have photos, a big tree and wills. would really love to hear from you
regards
Lynn

sorry for taking soooo long to reply!

William Parker was born 12th jan 1841 at Five Crosses, Frodsham, Cheshire.
Now when looking for parents, there is a possibility he was illegitimate!
The only william i can find in frodsham is living in the 1841 census with a woman i presume to be mother a Betty aged 25yrs
and a young girl ann aged 2 yrs, they are living with a family!
in 1851 he is living as a nephew...status scholar pauper.
think supposed mother betty is the Elizabeth Parker working as a servant in same place in 1851
(c 1817) (it also says unmarried)
In 1861 I am not sure where he is!
In 1866 he marries Sarah Briscoe at St Lawrence Church, Frodsham
In 1871 of course he is married to Sarah Briscoe and they have Annie
3 may 1889 he dies.

i am off to the CRO next week if i get chance i will look at baptism records and see if i can find him to clarify if he was illegitimate ..if not it will give me his parents names.
hope this is of some use!
Marple
