I too am searching for information about the elusive John MOBBERLEY. He is believed to be the original immigrant to America, and I have a lot of information about the family once we reached the US, but I have had a very difficult time locating the ancestors in Cheshire County. This summer I visited Chester and St. Wilfrid's Church in Mobberley Station. It was a wonderful experience, but I did not learn anything new about the family.

Lots of information is available at the Mobley web site. I would be glad to share anything I have with you if it is helpful. Please let me know if you have any information on this family in Cheshire, or other counties.

Happy Hunting

I wa born a Mobberley, son of George Henry Mobberley of Wolverhampton
England, who had several brothers. The original Cheshire squires who had their name from the village
seem to have died out in the male line maybe 200 years ago so I guess we are a collateral branch.
Some years ago I read that the Mobberleys went back to te time of John of
Gaunt in the Wars of the Roses era, and they included Sir William de
Mobberley so they are quite a fine old family, though whether Norman or Saxon I dont know.

My grandmother was born Elsie Mobberley and lived into her nineties. One of her sisters (Lilian) died aged 101, and Jean (another sister) died aged 96 (I think). They had a brother (Major) who lived into his nineties also. All lived in the Wolverhampton area (Sandy Mount, Wombourne, was one of their addresses). Any relation ?

My father, Richard Mobberley was born in Three Tuns Lane, Wolverhampton, England in 1910. Although he was one of 13 children, it is thought that I am the only surviving male descendent from that generation. Brian Richard (myself) was born in Gloucester, England 1947 & I have a son, Richard William born in 1981.

Please contact me if this opens any avenues for you.
Kind Regards,
BRM
