My Great Great Grandfather was Christopher Geraghty, Laurence's brother.Parent James and Jane (Reddy) Geraghty. Jane and James had 2 girls(names unknown) and another son William born after James went to the USA. Jane followed James 6 years later with the 2 girls and William. Laurence and Chris. stayes in Ireland with relatives in Westmeath I think Janes relations(??) The Reddys seem to come from Mulingar. Laurence migrated to NZ and Chri. to Australia. Chris married Alice Feeney had 6 children Caterine, James Patrick T, Christopher John, Mary and Alice. (Patrick T was my Great Grandfather) My grandmother was Alice May Geraghty, called May and Patrick was her father. Alice May married Ken Rankin and had 3 girls, Margaret(Peggy) Judith (my Mum) and Darcie. I have a letter from Mary Glynn(nee Geraghty) to a Peter Geraghty in NZ, they were cousins letting Peter know that William and (Matthew)Keiren Reddy had died and talks about Castlelost as their ancestral home. Both Reddys died there. The property was divided up between first cousins.Laurence and Christopher are named as first cousins??? amongst twenty three first cousins according to the letter. I have a solicitors letter from Mullingar talking about Keirens estate. dated 31/10/1912. each got 46 pounds 5 shillings 4 pence. Christopher lived and is buried at Nimitybell NSW. They lived at Summer Hill name of property i assume. I have other info but I want to find James and Janes parents. Any clues? Cheers Maree

Thanks for your reply. Jane or Mary Jane was a Reddy. I stumbled apon the Geraghty family tree. Someone in America has done a lot of it. James is buried in USA. He went there during the potatoe famine. Jane met him there 5 years later with the daughters and a son William that James had not yet met. Christopher and Laurence were left with their mothers family then they immigrated christopher to Australia and Laurence to NZ.
Cheers Maree. They had 5 children.

Hi Peter
Laurence is my GG Uncle his brother Christopher is my GG Grandfather.I found the family tree someone in America has done a lot of it. James is buried there. He went there it seems during the potatoe famine. Jane followed 5 years later with the 2 girls a William who was about 5years old. James had not yet met William. Christopher and Laurence were left in Ireland with (Mary) Janes family. Christopher got an inheritence from his uncles I think Janes brothers who died within a week of each other. They were not married. The inheritance came when Christopher was living in Australia on the Monaro High Plains. Anymore info needed please contact me.
Thanks maree
