LARGUE MARYPORT

Surnames: largue,
Hi All, I am researching the LARGUE family, of MARYPORT

A Hugh Largue, being my starting point, born 1898 Carlisle area, Parents unknown.

I have found very few entries of any type for this family.
In fact just a few births on the igi, some of which are spelt wrongly, such as Largay Largace Largus Largey, such a long way from the correct spelling, they don,t even sound the same.

Only 1 marriage anywhere, pre 1839.

Only 3 entries in 1891 anywhere in England, and all 3 of those are single people.

So any help anyone, may be able to give, would be very much appreciated.
many regards Brenda

Hi Brenda,

I have a Henry Largue as a witness to my GG Grandfathers wedding in Cockermouth 1854.
There is a copy of the certificate here

Thanks a lot Jim, seeing as its about the only thing I will have, thats a fact.
Ay least it proves they were there, if nothing else.
May be next door or something on a census.
Appreciated.
regards Brenda

Some more here from the 1901 census, it looks like Henry forgot his age and moved to Durham... There are a lot of people "missing" from the 1901 census due to spelling mistakes

Well done done Jim, something positive at last.
Looks like you found the witness.
I was off, on the track, that I often find, witnesses are sweethearts.
Both of your messages are sure to help.
I now have Henrys parents too, someone has sent me, 2 1851 census entries, in which Henry is an apprentice carpenter.
So that makes me positve on that one, now I have his family too.
many many Thanks Brenda

Hi Jim, thanks yet again.
Yes I agree about the 1901 census, you see the last positive info I have is that, Rays (my bro in law) grandfather was a Hugh b1898, which I found on free bmd, I was hoping the 1901 census, would lead me too his parents, but no.
I have tried all sorts of spellings, and even looked for Hugh without a surname, but no luck.
I will have to get them to buy the birth cert, for this one, I think.
many regards Brenda

Morning Jim, I note that Henrys son John is missing from the 1901 census, and Hughs father is thought tot may be, be John.
The fact that they are Both missing makes this more possible.

Hi Brenda,

As you know Hugh was born in 1898 and the approximate location, have you tried www.1837online.com to search for his birth entry in the national register? It will give you all the info you need to order a birth certificate.
