My mother's name before adoption was Coysh, and I have traced her Coysh family in Devon back to Richard Coysh, father of Robert Coysh mariner born 1749 .. he has Newfoundland connections. Are we related?

I am trying to trace my Grandfathers where abouts from 1899-1914. Name Herbert William Maisey, his father died when he was 7, by 9 he was no long living with his mother Alma Mary Coysh and siblings, Alma Mary declared that she was born in Torquay, maybe Newton Abbot district, Devon. I think he sailed to Canada from Plymoth, the next record I have is he in the RCNWP force. Did he sail with the Coysh's?If you can help me in this matter I would be grateful and I also would like anything you have on the Coysh family.
Yours Keith Maisey

William, are you descended from any of the 5 that went to Brooklyn on the Portia in 1889? I am helping a friend and believe the 5 are from his GF's first marriage.
