England. I also am searching for the Croydon line in Devon, England. I am searching for the parents of Glanville Henry Croydon, bn abt. 1813 who immigrated to the U.S. on 16 May 1836. On Glanville's naturalization papers he stated that he was from Devon. Since you also have a Glanville in your lineage we may be seeking the same line. Please let me know what info you may have. Thanks.

I am also searching the Coish family of Ochre Pit Cove, Newfoundland, who originated it is believed from Devon, England. The name was previously known as Coysh and the earliest known relative that I am aware of is a Robert Coysh. If this sounds familiar and you might have information on any possible relations, please e-mail me. Thanks.

Hello Patricia.
Joan Clapp (who married a John CROYDON...nothing to do with the place in London) was born in Upottery, Devon, christened 1738. She was probably the daughter of Robert Clapp, b. Upottery 1718 and Ann NORTHAM b. 1713/14 in Yarcombe Devon. Robert was son of John (b.1688) and Mary...in Upottery..they had 3 other children...Charity, Elizabeth and Edmund.
Let me know if you see any connections with your CLAPPs
Maggie

Hello Maggie, Sorry for the muddleup,it gets to you occasionally,Thomas`s grandson lived in the Croydon area. There possibly is a connection, with our Thomas Clapp 1748,somewhere,if only I could find his birthplace,I beleive it will be in Devon eventually,as he married in Stoke Damerel in Devon,he was serving in the Royal Navy at the time of his marriage 1780.to Barbara Cunningham 1756.I have had no luck in searching for her also,I know the history of them, from the time of marriage,Maybe one day.

Thankyou for your response,I will keep the information you sent, for the future.

Patricia
