I now it is a long time since this posting. I am looking for a John Robert Harrison born 1854 Stockton on Tees tried other sources without scucess. Can you help/

Where did you get the date of birth from? There is no John Robert Harrison registered in Stockton during 1854 or the first quarter of 1855. What else do you know, and what are you trying to find?

I am researching the village of Patrick Brompton and John Robert Harrison bought a house in the village. Between 1891 & 1871 he says he was born Stockton on Tees. This where both I and husband Barrie were born.
A friend who has access to the 1901 Census says he was born COWTON ? she queries the transcription.
1861 living with his grandparents they says he was born Middleton on Row.
I thought I would check first of all Stockton as that is repeated 3 times.

I am wondering if I should believe the grandparents???

Apart from 1901 when it says he was aged 46 he was useually 37, 27 7 etc.
That means he was born in the first three quarters of 1853 or the first qtr on 1854. Simple arithmetic which the LDS and Ancestry get wrong.

That leads to the probable bitrh in FreeBMD of John Robert HARRISON in Sep qtr 1853 Darlington District 10a 8.
Middleton one row will be in the Darlington district.

He was married to a Hannah and so I thought that the entry for 1901 might have been a different person as then his wife was Sarah Jane.
However the children seem to match with his earlier family so I guess Hannah died and he re-married. One of the children in 1901 is Annie Elizabeth LAWSON aged 18 so I'd guess that she is a daughter of Sarah Jane's first marriage.

However, Sarah his second wife was married to Chistopher Nash of the Gainford area where she was born.

It looks like Annie Elizabeth could have got married in the early part of 1901.

John Robert Harrison was born 1853 at Middleton on Row. I have that confirmed.
He was widowed and married a widow Sarah Jane born 1870[surname unknown]at Gainford. They married at the Registry Office at Darlington 1898
Her first husband was Charles Henry born 1873 living at the Spotted Dog Inn Census 1881, If I could find their marriage then it would give Sara Jane's christian name. Had no luck looking at various sites.

Message 7 from me gives the same information. I know they married 1898 both widowed at the Registry Office. What I would like to find his Sarah Jane's first marriage to Charles Henry Nash. This would give her name at baptism.

Are you sure that she was married before. Have your got the birth certificate for her child. There is a birth for Gertrude, (child can be seen on the 1901 census with the Harrison family) but look at the 1891 census entry, where a girl called Sarah J Nash is a domestic servant.
