Does anyone have any info re my Step Great Grandfather,
Jumper Jim
Howe, born 1868, died @ 40 in 1908.
He was a
Champion bare Fist
Boxer of the
Northeast in the late1800s, he had a gym in the
Sunderland Road, Gateshead and was a friend of Will
Curly, who was also into
Bare Fist
Boxing and property, an existing public house in Gateshead High Street, 'Curly's Bar', used to have boxing pictures on the bar walls and some including
Jumper Jim's was removed by the brewery during a recent re-fit I am informed.
I have a very bad photocopy of him in an article from the Gateshead Post dated 16/3/51, has anyone got any information about this or let me know if copies of this paper are still in existence.
I would welcome any information at all
