I am researching a WILLIAM BRUCE born 1826 STOCKTON DURHAM. I have been in touch with the records office and they said no birth, marriage or any certificates on him.
Could any kind person look on parish records in STOCKTON to tell me who were his parents and sisters and brothers if any.
He shows up on 1851 census with wife ELIZABETH and 1 son FREDRICK however he also shows up on 1841 census but not living with any BRUCES or ELIZABETH.
Can anyone help?

Hi the entry for the christening was as follows:- 1st Oct 1825
William illegitimate son of Jane Bruce (widow) of Stockton
There was no record of her marriage to !!!! Bruce in the transcribed records

Thankyou John for the information.No wonder it has been hard to find anything on him. I doubt i will find his father now so i will concentrate on JANE BRUCE.
