Hello,

You could make use of the search and courier service operated by the Essex Society for Family History (but it covers births, marriages and deaths for the whole UK). The "Search" part of the service refers to searching the indexes of the General Register Office (useful if the particular entry you want hasn't yet been transcribed by the FreeBMD project). The "Courier" part refers to the obtaining of the certificate on your behalf and posting it on to you. You can use each part of the service independently of the other - that is, if you already have the necessary references, for example from FreeBMD, you can use the Courier service to order the certificate, and if you use the search service, only to discover that some detail doesn't match your information so you do not wish to go on and order that particular certificate, that's fine. For details of the service, go to the society's website: www.esfh.org.uk and click on the link to the left of your screen which says Courier and Search Services I would just say that the charges are less if you are a member of the Essex Society for Family History.

Regards,
David

Catherine, Thanl you so much for replying ... I am not sure if it is the same Heptinstall as as far as I know my grandmother Frances Mary Chamberlin wsa the only child of Fanny Heptinstall Chamberlin and Joseph Henry Chamberlin... Fanny was born 1864 not sure of the month , in Castleford, York ,England ... Died 1/1/1893... in Billericay, Brentwood County of Essex...( I am still in desperate search for her birth cert ... I have her marriage and death cert...but can not find her birth ...Fanny's mothers name was Mary Holmes , Married a Thomas Heptinstall Aug 1 , 1857..in Castleford, County of York .... I do hope this is of some help and I also hope we are somehow conncected.. keep in touch .. Lynn Tonkinson Brent.. g grandaughter of Fanny Heptinstall

Hi,

It looks like there is definately a family connection.

So far I have been able to establish that Thomas Heptinstall and Mary Holmes had at least 9 living children 8 girls and 1 boy when they moved to the East End of London.
Your great grandmother Fanny b 1864 and my husbands grandfather Tom b 1872 were siblings.
Tom didn't marry until 1910 but he and his wife Mary Casey had around 9 children the only surviving daughter was my husbands mother.

I've managed to follow up information on Tom and Fanny's siblings and of course have infor on Tom's children if you would any details please e-mail me directly.

It seems as if the whole family moved to London in the latter part of the 1880's.

Hello Lyn Tonkinson of Brent I am trying to trace a man called Montague William Tonkinson born 05 07 21 as he serve with my Uncle in the RAF during WWII( they both were interned in Portuagul for a time) I am helping to research for a book to be written on the subject. He was registered as living at Freemantle Rd Barkingside Ilford in 1943 I just wonder if he was a relative of yours as you seem to have tracked some relative of yours to the east side of London. Regards Anthony
