Hello to all.
would anybody be able to help me with my search on my mother's maiden name of Lee? as I cant seem to get anywhere with it!!!!
Her father John William Lee married Eliza Truby on 4 Jan 1930.
John William Lee (1907) had 3 brother's Harry 1909, Edward 19??, & James 1913, each could have a middle name but unable to find this out as I cant locate any of them on any census.
all I know about their mother and father is the marriage date John Lee & Elizabeth Evans married 3rd Nov 1906 Victoria Docks West Ham.

all Brother's born 21 Ohio Road, Plastow, London.

I would really be grateful of any help on this matter.

Hi john i did a bit of research not sure if its any help.

John William Lee birth registered in Dec 1907 in west ham district, Vol 4a, pg 87

His brother james had no middle name and was born in the west ham district and registered Dec 1913. brother harry is a tricky, non were born in 1909 however, two were born and registered in Dec 1908, one being Harry and the other being Harry Reginald.

edward will be born between 1906 and 1911. this is because in the website http://www.freebmd.org.uk you can see the mothers maiden name on all births after 1911 and only james was found matching lee and evans in west ham after that.

Using the same website I found John Lee and Elizabeth Evans marriage registration DEC 1906 WEST HAM vol 4a pg 318.

You'll probably have to buy their marriage certificate, you'll get the fathers names on their as well as any other witnesses.

you can order online at http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/ it costs £7 if you know the vol and pg number its on which is what ive given you, if you dont have them it'll cost about £10 i think.

Hi Again Emma.
I have just been digging through my Mothers papers and found that she did have acopy of John Lee & Elizabeth Evans Marriage certificate.
but they dont seem to match what you found on the free site.
I have a date of 3rd November 1906, page number 189.
they is another number just under the year date at the very
top and that say's No. 378.

I also have witness names on the cert...
W Evans, and Esther Evans.

John Lee's fathers name on the certificate is Edward Lee. (36 Elver road/Elva road)

Elizabeth's fathers name is John Evans (20 Mayfield road.)

in the parish of Victoria Docks in the county of West Ham.
