Surnames: herbert, harris
I've William Herbert, born abt 1748 in Hatherop, who married Anne Harris in 1779. They had 5 children:

John 1780
William 1782
Mary 1784
Ann 1789
James 1791

James Herbert married Maria (surname unknown) and had at least 5 children:

Ann abt 1826
Eliza abt 1826
Jane 1835 Coln St. Aldwins - 1870 Oxford. (My ancestor)
William 1831
Hannah abt 1842, Coln St. Aldwins

That's very interesting Sonia, thankyou.

I'm not quite sure how John Herbert fits in with my line, though as Hatherop is such a small village he must be related somehow.

The record you mention appears to be a will, in which case perhaps this John is the father of William Herbert in my tree. The name spelling is Harbert, but I'm sure it must be the same family.

hey...
i was wondering of you could tell me anything about hatherop...i was reading through the post the you left on the website and there is noone with the last name herbert no ancestors atall
i was wondering if anyone could tell me if they know anything about the hartshorns from way back
