I am looking for more info on the descendents of Isabella Mitchell and John Shadwell. From very helpful contacts previously, I learned that they had 9 children, one of whom I am hoping to confirm is my gt gt gt grandfather Thomas Mitchell Shadwell.
He married Letitia Williams in London in 1808.
Hopefully someone local to Horfield parish might know how to get hold of the names of the 9 children.

Try the Hugh Wallis site at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~hughwallis... but change the Horfield batch number prefix from M to C after entering the surname in the appropriate box of course!

Then put the HW site in your favourites.

I have tried your suggestion Ovener,but with no luck!never mind. FamilySearch does have their marriage in cork, but its the 9 offspring I'm after!

There is no reference to the name Shadwell for baptisms or marriages in South Gloucestershire/Bristol in the early 1800's.Have a look at Freebmd and you will see where marriages and birth regs. took place.The census shows the same lack of info.Where did your info come from?

They would be born prior to censuses, probably in the 1750s and 60s. There is info from the Horfield parish church online that one of their daughters Isabella is buried in the churchyard, died aged 3 yrs 2mths in 1763.
John Shadwell snr died in Brussels in 1777 and was Lord of the manor of Horfield. His son John took over, followed by another son Richard. Isabella Shadwell nee Mitchell died in Bristol in 1815 aged 85.
So that is 3 of their children I know of. Just want to confirm Thomas Mitchell Shadwell is another one.
