There were two Wade brothers from Ketton, Rutland, who turned up in Eaton Socon c1819. Their father was John. I’m desperately trying to prove it was this John who married in Eaton Socon in 1819, and who might have been the father of John who emigrated. No luck so far, but I’m still trying. But I can’t find a suitable John Wade in 1841.
My notes are as follows:
Paul Freshwater married Susan Lane (chr 24 Apr 1791 at Willington) at Willington Beds on 20 Nov 1807
Children
7 Jan 1810 William at Willington
6 Dec 1812 Sarah at Willington
2 Oct 1814 Joseph at Willington
22 Jun 1817 Elizabeth at Eaton Socon (with Paul Freshwater having been committed in July 1814 and transported in 1815 it must be unlikely that Elizabeth was legitimate. The minister seems to have had the same thought as the entry reads “’Paul and’ deleted Susan“)

Removal Order from Eaton Socon to Willington
Susannah Freshwater, w. of Paul Freshwater who was sentenced to transportation 2 yrs. ago and left Spithead May 1815, and 3 ch. Will. 7, Susannah 5, and John 2. Willington, Beds P5/13/3/13 22.1.1817
As there are only 3 children mentioned in the Removal Order, Elizabeth bap Jun 1817 must have been illegitimate – possibly her pregnancy triggered the removal proceedings. Might John White Wade have been the actual father?
Was Susannah 5 in 1817 actually Sarah, and was John 2 in 1817 actually Joseph?

Susannah Freshwater widow married John White Wade bachelor at Eaton Socon on 3 Nov 1819. (He was approx 50 based on his census ages). Was he actually a widower? Susannah still only c30 so plenty of time for her to have had more children.
No record of any children to this couple, although John could conceivably have been an unbaptised son.

Examinations and depositions: Rich. Wade, Eaton Ford, Eaton Socon, stonemason. Returning from work at Cockayne Hatley found the box containing his clothes had been broken open and the contents missing. Later saw Thos. Browning wearing a pair of his trousers. Jackson Stocker Wade, wife of Wm. Wade and mother of Rich. (this can’t be right. William and Jackson only married in 1819. Sister in law)
1841 Eaton Socon
John Wade 70 Not born in Beds
Susannah Wade 45 B in Beds
John Wade age 79 buried 18 Dec 1848 (ie birth c1769)
1851 Eaton Socon
John Freshwater 36 b Willington & family
Sarah Wade lodger 62 widow b Willington
So this looks to be her son baptised as Joseph, but John in the Removal Order.
Susannah Wade age 63 buried 23 Mar 1852 at Eaton Socon
Also in Eaton Socon William Wade b c1799 bur 4 Sep 1849. Not bic in 1841. Could he have been a son of John by a first marriage? Married Jackson Drew in Eaton Socon in 1819
William Wade bap 05 MAR 1797 Ketton Cum Tixover, Rutland, parents John Wade and Julia (Turner)
In 1851 in Eaton Socon was Richard Wade b Ketton Rutland in c1806. Like William he was a stone mason. Bap Ketton 16 Oct 1805. Parents John and Julia. He married Harriet c 1828 possibly Peterborough. In 1841 he was a farmer in Ketton
Link between William and Richard proved by:
BLARS X67/799 Richard Wade, (brother of late Mr W Wade), Eaton Ford, Saint Neots, Hunts, Stone and Marble Mason. Card requesting continuance of patronage Sept 1849
Militia enrolments
24 March 1827 Eaton Socon Richard Wade age 22 class 1
23 Apr 1825 Eaton Socon William Wade age 20 (who was he? Too young to have been a son of William and Jackson who only married in 1819)
So Richard Wade was in Eaton Socon in 1826/7 as a mason, then went to Peterborough where he married and had a couple of kids, then went back to Ketton where he was a farmer in 1841, then back to Eaton Socon as a stone mason before 1849. No question of it not being the same Richard as wife Harriet and children are the same in 1841-51.
John Wade m Julia Turner 30 DEC 1796 Ketton Cum Tixover, Rutland
John Wade bap 03 MAY 1775 Ketton Cum Tixover, parents William & Mary
William Wade m Mary Wood 3 May 1774 Ketton (member submission)
Did Julia Wade die in Ketton and John then move to Eaton Socon, along with William and Richard
BUT a Julia Wade living in Ketton age 66 in 1841, which may sink that theory!
Who was Mary Wade spinster who married John Hopkins in Eaton Socon on 1 June 1824? Born in Beds age 55 in 1841. May be a red herring.
It may just be coincidence that John Wade turned up in Eaton Socon at roughly the same time as brothers William and Richard, whose father was John. I don’t like coincidences!
Sorry I haven’t got an answer about John in 1841, or his baptism. If you have more details about his emigration and children it might help. What were the names of all his children, including those born in Australia? There might be a pattern! Where have you got his rough birthdate from? He was described as of full age on marriage in 1845. ie born before 1824 IF he was telling the truth.
