Thomas Hart b c 1783, was a thatchnaster from Godmanchester Huntingdon England. He married Elizabeth Marriott in 1806 at Buckden. Elizabeth was the d/o John and Ann (White) Marriott. I think Thomas Hart was the s/o John. Their children were John m Ann, Thomas m Ann Peacock, Alice m Edward Swan, Henry m Eliza Smith, Charles m Elizabeth Hunns, Wm m Hannah Cole, Elizabeth m James Hollmes, James Henry m Emily Ellingham, George, and Ann. Would like to make contact with any member of this family.
Who were Thomas Hart's parents and siblings. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Tradition is that this Hart family descends from Wm Shakespeare's sister Joan and her husband Wm Hart hat maker.
Thanks
Emalu Hart

Hello Emalu,
know it's been a while since you posted this. I am related to that family but in Australia, However in the US look at
http://www.dayfam.com/familyhistory/index3.htm
they have extensive data base although it does not go back to William Henry Hart who married Joan Shakespeare. The IGI has extensive files also although some incorrect,
hope this helps,
regards Janet

I am researching the Hart family as well. My mother descends from a William Hart who may be a brother of your Thomas Hart. Family legend has an ancestor of William Hart's marrying Joan (or Joane or Jone) Shakespeare, sister of William Shakespeare. Have you found any further information? If you have, I would greatly appreciate any help, as I have hit a dead end.
Thanks,
Stacey Savage

my I haven't looked at this for a very long time. Yes the Day family and the LDS have extensive work on the Hart Shakespeare line. It is my work.

I did all the research and did find that this line does descend from the Joan Shakespeare line Sister of William. It has all the proofs. The other members of this family have copied it under their own names.

Thanks

I'm sorry I didn't see this when you posted it. As I just told another person, yes, I did find the family, and they do descend from the Hart Shakespeare line. I can send it to you if you'd like. There are several of my father in laws family who have posted my work as theirs. That would be the easiest way for you to get it. The proofs are parish records wills, the usual.

Let me know

I'd be interested to learn how you established that Thomas Hart of Hemingford Abbots who married Elizabeth Marriott at Buckden in 1806, and who according to online trees citing Emalu Pedigree Records was born in Godmanchester in 1784 (have you found a baptism?) was the son of John Shakespeare Hart who was born in Stratford-upon-Avon and who died at Tewkesbury Gloucs, the other side of the country?

John and Mary Hart who married on 27 Nov 1774 at Tewkesbury, baptised the following children in Tewkesbury:
Sarah 12 Nov 1775
William Shakespeare 1 Nov 1778
George 22 Dec 1780
John 22 Dec 1780
A member submission on the IGI also suggests there was another son, Henry, born c1781.
William Shakespeare and John jun were both buried in Tewkesbury according to member submissions, and John senior died on 22 Jan 1800 at Tewkesbury citing Emalu.

So the logistics are that John and Mary married in Tewkesbury, had at least 4 children there, then galloped 100 miles cross country to have Thomas in Godmanchester, then left him there when the rest of them went back to Tewkesbury at some time before 1800. My credulity is being stretched!

There was a John Hart age 86 buried at Hemingford Abbots on 15 Apr 1821. Who was he?
