I have an Elizabeth
Craddock, born 1833 possibly in Fareham, who died in
Portsmouth 1901 as Elizabeth Cradwick. She recorded in 1851 census as a Cradwick and died as a Widow although was never married.
She had 2 children, the only details i have being:
1) Frederick Cradwick (born June 22 1868 at Portsea, died 1871 at Portsea).
2) Thomas Cradwick (born April 4 1856 at
Portsmouth) who married Ellen Louise
Pitman (died Jan 17 1922 aged 66 at Southsea/Portsmouth)
She is one of 4 children of Sarah
Ford and Thomas
Craddock (died in 1851 aged 61 at Fareham as Thomas Cradwick). Thomas is son of John Cradock and Susanah
Batchelor (married February 10 1777).
Thomas was also married to Jane
Nicholson (born 1791, died aged 84 in 1875 as Jane Cradwick) at Fareham, and had 1 child, Emmely
Craddock (married George
Matthews).
Thomas is a brother to
Abraham Cradwick, William
Craddock, and Henry Cradock.
She had a 2 sisters and 1 brother:
1) Louise
Craddick (born May 22 1831, Fareham) who married Henry Thomas
Burgess (26/9/1854?) at Alverstoke. There were chilhdren but no details.
2) Sarah
Craddick (born january 3 1830 at Fareham). Also recorded as Cradwick on 1851 census. No details of children.
3) Abraham
Craddock (born April 3 1921 at Fareham, died aged 73 February 26 1894 as John Cradwick at Wateringbury).
First married September 20 1841 (still known as
Abraham) to Eliza
Stewart (died aged 29 January 12 1849 at Fareham).
They had a child, Margaret
Barclay Cradwick, although she died at 17 days old on May 7 1847.
The second marriage (known as John Cradwick, widower, at this time) was to
Harriet Bates (born 1833 at Sandhurst, died aged 61 January 19 1893 at Wateringbury.
Between them they had 7 children 5 boys, 2 girls: 4 of which died within 2 years of birth)
