Glad to get your message. The 1841 census in Markfield, Thomas Copeland age 55, wife Elizabeth 55. The children are listed: Elizabeth 16, Hannah 13, Mary 11, George 5 and Sabina 2. Elizabeth is the one that married Abraham Isaac (Isaacs). This family should be the same that appear in the 1851 census showing Thomas age 65, Elizabeth 63, and grandaughter Sabina age 11. I also have a marriage record showing a Thomas Coupland marrying a Elizabeth Darker April 24, 1810 in Markfield. If you find a connection or additional info please advise. Thanks!!

I have a Mary Copeland born approx 1806, not sure of birth location. Married to James Windram in Markfield and had large family there. She died in 1870 in Markfield. I don't have a thing on her parents or siblings, but Elizabeth could be the right age to be a younger sister or niece perhaps. I have some notes on Copelands in Markfield for 1851 census and noted a William Coupland age 40 with wife Ann and 3 children. I thought this William may be a brother. A possible father is listed in 1851 Markfield as William Coupland 73 with wife Ann 70. Also have Thomas 65 and Elizabeth 63 with granddaughter Sabrina. This couple could be parents of Mary too but they would have had to marry young with Mary as the firstish child. Looks like I'll need to dig more. Will keep your email in the event I make a connection first. **** Note new email address **** Regards

In your message you mentioned the name Copeland. I'm interested in finding info on a Elizabeth (Besse) Copeland.
In the 1851 census from Markfield, Leicester, England she is married to Abraham Isaac. Elizabeth is 25 yrs old and Abraham is 29. The parents of Elizabeth are Thomas and Elizabeth Copeland. Is there any connection in the Copeland family you have? Thanks for any info.

My bet is that William Coupland 73 and Thomas Coupland 65 are brothers and that is where I will focus my research first. I have a marriage record that shows William Copeland married Ann Tilson in 1800 in Nailstone. IGI batch C034671 shows the first 3 children of this marriage to be William 1801, Ann 1803, Mary 1805 (probably mine). Christenings for Thomas and Elizabeth in same batch, first two children, William 1810& Ann 1812. Time to get the Markfield parish register. I'll let you know when I've confirmed the connection. Regards, June

Hi there. My research so far indicates that my Copelands are in Markfield. I have an Ann Copeland born 1802 (father William Copeland)and another that I think is related (father Thomas Copeland)born 1812. My own interest is in Mary Copeland (father William Copeland)younger sister of first Ann above. I have no idea who either of them married. I'm not familiar with the county, are we geographically close?
