Seeking any information regarding William & Mary Hammond that resided in the Potterhanworth area 1840 onwards period. They had children Mary Jane, Eliza (found her buried here in Australia, Charlotte, Phillip and Richard. Found Richard in the 1861 census aged 13 years and one of the girls at age 19 probably housekeeping for her grandfather Thomas Brewer. Can't find deaths for Phillip or Richard so guessing they may have emigrated possibly to either Australia or USA. There is a Phillip of about the same age entering Australia via Melbourne in Dec 1867 on a shipping list but not sure if there is a connection. William and Mary both died 1890 and are buried St John the Evangelist, Washingborough. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Richard Reddish b 25/7/1686 Castle Bytham - looking for his wife, Elizabeth maiden name

I have become stuck trying to find the marriage of Richard Reddish (born 1686 Castle Bytham per Family Search souce) to an Elizabeth - maiden name unknown .
I can 'see' their children all born Castle Bytham via Family Search C03500-1 which tells me their Mother's name is Elizabeth but no maiden name.
Firstborn is also an Elizabeth born 1717 at Castle Bytham.

One of my big confusions with this missing marriage record is that everywhere over the 'net with public on-line family trees and databases, the thought is that it was an Elizabeth Polhill b 1686. Thing is , I can't find anything for this from where I sit here in New Zealand. Neither a baptism record for this female , nor a marriage record to Richard Reddish .

I can also see that there is a jump back on many of the trees and databases from Elizabeth Polhill to a father , Thomas Polhill, who married Elizabeth Ireton who was the daughter of Bridget Cromwell - daughter of the actual Oliver Cromwell. That in itself would be exciting if it could be proven but I can't even find a baptism for an Elizabeth Polhill born c 1686 which would be 3 yrs AFTER Thomas Polhill died.

What I can also 'see' is a Richard Reddish married an Elizabeth Crumwell ( spelling is per record transcript) 1716 per Notts Archdeanery Marriage licence - Boyds 1st misc series.

I'm flummoxed & don't want to make assumptions about this marriage and possible lineag.

Any help & thoughts gratefully received.

A large number of Dacks indeed!! My Great Grandmother's surviving immediate family moved to Northumberland. Have you found your connections?

Mazzy

I am related to the Greener family from Durham. Details can be found on my Ramsay Tree which is public. Let me know if you have any problems searching.

Edward Ramsay (1775 - 1846) married Ann Ramsay (1777 - 1847) They has a son called Greener Ramsay and I think Isaac had a brother George. Family started in Felling but then many moved further south into Durham.

Regards

Jo Ramsay

Hi from New Zealand.

I have hit something of a proverbial brick wall.

I have a William Bullock b 1803 in Bitchfield.

His baptismal record states William -Natural son of Mary Bullock

which would indicate he was illegitimate.

I've understood about Bastardy orders and think there may be one for him.
problem is that LincsToPast online doesn't show these records and FindMyPast has not got this particular village.

Anyone know how I can find out if there was an order

or

is there anyone out there that is close by and might be able to perform a look up

thanks

Hi Bob,

Without any information relating to Ernest Chambers' place of birth, your best option is probably to get a copy of the marriage certificate. It looks very likely that the marriage took place in Scotland in 1917, as I've found a match using those specific names, but you'll have to buy credits from Scotland's people (www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk) to see the marriage entry. The minimum you need to pay is £7 but that will be more than enough to see the full marriage entry.

Christine

I have searched John and Eliza Rosina nee FAITHFUL and their children Albert H, Amy and Walter J. In neither births, marriages nor deaths do they appear under REFFELL but in all cases exclusively under REVELL. Therefore I am satisfied that the 1891 census recorded them wrongly as REFFELL so the query is no longer necessary. Thank you for your patience.

Hi Sue,
I think we have the right John and Elizabeth Hodson,
although the data on John's birth year is a bit muddy. From
Findagrave.com I have found their burial site here in the U.S.; the tombstone has John's birthyear as 1820 or 1828...it's hard to read...but I believe 1820 is closer to the actual year; I've seen 1818 and 1819 also listed. The dates on Elizabeth seem right. I was also able to verify through death records kept by Orchard Park ( was East Hamburgh ), N.Y. that John's father was also named John and his mother was Elizabeth; Elizabeth's father's name was John Mann, and her mother was listed as "Mrs. Mann"...not much help there, eh?

Hello again
John Hodson married Elizabeth Mann 13 May 1845 at Horbling and both fathers were named as John. Their son John was baptised 2.7.1818 at Heckington, son William baptised 25.11.1820 at Heckington and Daughter Marianne baptised 1.6.1823 at Heckington.

John and Elizabeths children - Mary Ann Hodson was baptised 7.9.1845 at Heckington of Heckington Fen, Betsey baptised 12.11.1848 of Heckington Fen at Heckington and Hannah was baptised 6.4.1851 of Heckington Fen at Heckington.

If you check the 1851 census you should be able to find John and Elizabeths birth place and their age. A good site to use for lincolnshire records is the Lincolnshire Archive site (free) www.lincstothepast.com

My maiden name is Hodson, but we are from the western side of Lincoln. Having said that on my mothers side of the family one of the Houlton girls married a Hodson, but I am not sure yet how this family of Hodson ties in.
Best Wishes Sue

They were married in April of 1843, and their daughter, my great, great grandmother, Elizabeth
"Betsy" Hodson was born 5 Nov 1847 in Heckington.
I am searching for family of my great grandmother, Elizabeth "Lizzy" Pickett ( became Pikett here in the U.S. ) who was born in Lincolnshire to William and Elizabeth "Betsy" Hodson Pickett and the family emigrated to New York State in the mid 1800's. Betsy's parents were John Hodson and Elizabeth Mann; William's parents were William Pickett and Susan Sutton. I am looking for anybody that can tell me more about these families.

Hi,
You've probably seen this already as this is from the "Find My Past" website but there is a burial record for Ann Neville in 1731 at St Michael's Littlecoates. Notes on the record state "Wife of John daughter of Edward and Jane Horsewood, (from Monumental Inscription)
That's all I can find at the moment

Kathy
