Hello again

Couple of things to bear in mind: Margaret Ellen bc1853 therefore a baptism just the next year is most certainly usual - some are quite a few years. The IGI is purely an index of records therefore, it would certainly be worthwhile to look at the entry (especially the margins!) - Transcribing/indexing is a much "in progress" business so, worth having a trawl thro this churchs' records. The other possibilty is that M E was unwell and needed to be baptised at that time.

Normally, people, as now, move for work reasons - (especially the fact that the other brothers went too).

A coal miner/mariner etc were "trades" of honest values - Margeret (mum) was illigitimate - bad news back then so, she would have automatically been of "lower" birth (sometimes ref to as "Satan's Children")

Yes, I know what you mean about having girls - we should have/had the continental way of hyphenating both names! but, that would make it toooooo easy eh!

YDNA yeh but if there are girls along the way, this could also help

Best of luck

Ell
