Me again
Margaret Ellen Thompson baptism 11th March 1854 at St Peter's, Wallsend with just mum Margaret shown - have you viewed the actual entry?? - In this register, are the other 2 recorded??
Not likely with 3 kids that a bastard order was made so..
I have had this situation before whereby more than 1 child was born before the couple married (no pill in them days!!) and it usually is because of a family member - 9 out of 10 a parent - objected for one reason or another (usually a "class" thing) - I would think this is the same especially as they did actually marry AND, the girls then took his name
sorry I cant help more and hope that someone with access to this register may help you out, if you dont get to it before hand
Best of luck
Ell
