Louise,
Let's take the change from " 2 Bowes Terrace" to " 2 waterloo Road" as a clue to pursue.
Maybe it was the 1911 census enumerator who changed it, maybe thinking he knew better.
Looking at mixture of modern and old maps, here's what I think the situation was....
Waterloo was/is the main street of Blyth. Prince of Wales ( my first booze) is @ 58 Waterloo Rd, Oxfam shop is at No 40, on corner of Waterloo Rd and Church St.
Today there are no more buildings on the even side of Waterloo Road. There used to be a block of building there covering where I figure numbers 38-2 would have been. In my time (from late 1940s) this block included a large church and a picture house, the Central, but I cant remember any plain houses.
Anyway this is now open land, allowing the market place to occupy a larger space.
The "Photograph" section in the Blyth part of communities.northumberland.gov.uk includes pix of this area, but not good ones.
Suggestion... contact Blyth Library ( closed this pm) Put your query to Librarians Mark or Ann (she a local) . Usually super helpful. Bridge St, Blyth NE24 2DJ tel 0845-6006401 ( They hold Electoral Registers from about 1929.)
