I have a number of microfiche records and if anyone has family in these areas that you know about, I would be glad to look at my fiche and give you any results. I have the following: Registers of Chatton, NBL 1712-1812; Chatton & Chillingham Baptisms, Marriages and Burials 1813-1839; Registers of Eglingham NBL 1662-1812; W. Percy Hedley MSS in NBL Record Office; Belford, NBL Baptisms, Marriages, and Burials 1701-1812; Monumental Inscriptions NBL: Belford, Berwick (St. Mary's), Braxton, Chatton, Chillingham, Cornhill, Kyloe, Lucker, Mindrum, Ovingham, Rennington and Rock. I ask that you request look-ups only if you know you have family in these areas. I just don't have time to do "shots in the dark" for everyone.

Nancy,

I have a tenuous link to Belford, in that I have an Elenor Cummings born there (according to the 1881 census) around 1837. Her father's name was Robert Cummings, and I know that he died before 1861, not sure how old he was. If you could provide any information at all I would be very grateful, although I do realise that I haven't given you much to go on.

Yes please...

Any Muckles from 1780 onwards in or around Chatton. My earliest ancestor is Thomas Muckle b. abt 1783, d. 1835 married to Ann Burn (1787-1822) father James Burn b. 1750ish d. 1840, married to Alice). They are all on the monumental inscriptions for Chatton.

Thomas & Ann had 6 children (James 1807, Charles 1811(from whom I am descended), Thomas 1813, John 1816, Alice 1818, James 1820, Robert 1810).

Thomas then married Elizabeth (1805-1840) and had a further 9 children (Margaret 1825, William Anderson 1826, George 1827, Archibald 1828, Jane 1831, Peter 1832, Edward 1833, Andrew 1833, Jane 1836).

Most of the children were baptised in the Presbyterian Church in Wooler, but there must be additional records in Chatton. I would appreciate any mentions of Muckles and I will piece it all together.

If you are interested I have the 1851 census for Glendale parts 1 & 2 (covering Chatton, etc and up to Lowick) and have the 1881 on CD-Rom if I can help to repay in kind.

Also, I am also delving into another of my families, the Ords. The earliest I have is Thomas Ord b. 1804 in Doddington, married to Isabella b. 1809 in Carham. In 1851 they were in or around Lowick.

Many thanks

I'm sorry, Debbie, that I couldn't find any records of the Cummings family.

Tracy, following is what I found on the Muckle family. I hope this doesn't get posted twice. The first time I put it in, I went to preview the message and it disappeared!

This is what I found in the Chatton records from 1712-1812.
May 24, 1812--Philip (born May 6) 1st son of Philip Kinghorn, husbandman, N. of the P. of Belford, by his wife Elizabeth, 4th d of Peter Muckle, weaver.

Sept. 13, 1812--Margaret (born Aug 26) illeg. d. of Peter Muckle, husbandman, N. of the P. of Ford, and (blank) Forster

In the Chatton records, 1813-1839, I found no Muckle baptisms or marriages, but did find the following burials.
1823.01.27 Ann Muckle age 36
1836.11.03 Archibald Muckle age 2
1818.04.29 James Muckle age 10
1831.04.06 Jane Muckle age 2 mo. 1 wk.
1835.10.04 Thomas Muckle age 52

In the Edlingham & Whittingham Marriages 1813-1839, I found the following:
WTG 1815.05.18 Burn Elizabeth Tait Thomas
WTG 1835.01.09 Burn Jane Kinghorn Philip

In my Northumberland Marriage Index 1813-1837, I found the following:
LOW 1832.06.03 Muckle Elizabeth Ford Alexander
LOW 1831.05.08 Muckle Isabella Lyall Robert
LOW 1837.04.07 Muckle Isabella Johnson Michael
MOR 1826.12.16 Muckle James Noble Elizabeth
NSN 1836.04.10 Muckle Margaret Reed Michael
NSJ 1833.03.21 Muckle Margery Mather Thomas
KNT 1834.01.22 Muckle Robert Hamilton Euphemia
EGL 1833.07.26 Muckle Thomas Stawart Jane
WKW 1824.11.08 Muckle William Flint Sarah

I realized after I wrote these down that I forgot to go back and see what towns these were abbreviations for. If you don't know, let me know and I can go back and see if it's on there.

As for repaying me with your records, I would really appreciate it if you could look in your 1881 census records for any Tindall's that might be there; I have the 1851 census. And I don't have records for Doddington, but if you think I should look for Ord's in these records, let me know and I will. Hope this helps you!
Nancy

Hi John! Forgive my delay in the reply. I had a busy Thanksgiving holiday with family around. I did find one record of a Sinclair in my Chatton 1712-1812 records. It is as follows: Nov. 28, 1790 Matthew Joycey, of East Lilburn in the P. of Eglingham, and Elizabeth Sinclair, of Chatton in this P. Wit. Robert Thompson, Mary Henderson.
I get my fiche from two different places. I am a member of the Northumberland Family History Society and they have some for sale. I also get some from Northfiche. Their website is northfiche.co.uk I did look on my fiche of the Northumberland Marriage Index 1813-1837, and there are a lot of Sinclairs! There is none listed from Chatton, but if you are interested in this, let me know. I would probably have to send this list to you directly as I'm not sure there would be room on this website! Hope this helps.
Nancy
