Tracy: Just rejoined Ancestry and found your Muckle message board postings. I emailed you but it was returned, so will try this way. I'm married to Mike Muckle, son of Jack and Ivy. We received some family tree sheets a couple of years ago that I believe came either from you or Judith (that we were supposed to edit and return to you....sorry we haven't yet.) Haven't had a chance to do much research until recently, but we're very interested in learning more about the family, esp. Northumberland members, and would love to hear from you. My email is swmuckle@earthlink.net. (We're in the US.) Thanks, Susan

Hello Nancy,

I don't know if you might be able to help. I have a marriage between John FAIRNINGTON and Jane HEDDON that took place in St John the Baptist's church in Newcastle-upon-Tyne sometime during 1839.

I am trying to find out the names of the parents of John FAIRNINGTON to be able to place him and his family into our tree along with the 1300 or so other Fs. John was born in Edlingham circa 1801.

David

David, I wish I could help you. I do have some microfiche records for Edlingham but they do not start until 1814. I looked on there anyway for a few years but did not see any Fairnington's there. I'm sorry I could not be of help.

Nancy,

Thank you for your prompt reply. I shall have to investigate what microfiche records are available for Edlingham and the surrounding areas.

Kind regards
David

Hi, would you mind please checking your microfiche to see if you have a marriage between Robert JAMES and a Susannah (surname unknown). They were both born abt 1777, Robert died before Sept 1870 and Susannah between 1861-1871. They had a child Robert JAMES born in Edlingham abt 1810. Other children that I know of so far are Jane and James. Many thanks, your time and assistance is most appreciated. Regards, Elizabeth.

Elizabeth, I wish I could be of more help. Unfortunately the Edlingham records I have start in 1813, so I'm afraid a marriage took place before this. I did find on the birth records Jane James, parents Robert and Susannah. The date on that was 1818.09.20. There were seven other James' listed, but the parents were not Robert and Susannah. There were no James marriages or deaths. Sorry I couldn't help more!

Thanks Nancy. The date for Jane was a help anyway as I did not have that. Regards, Elizabeth

The IGI extracted records have a birth of Robert James 31 Dec 1809 and baptism 22 Jan 1810 in Edlingham, NBL s/o George James and Susanna Cummins

However there are several other children Ann, Robert(1799), and George with parents of Robert James and Susannah Cummings.

Perhaps you should order the film from the LDS and have a look yourself. The occupations of the father should be listed as well as where they were natives of--I have seen mistakes on these records.

There is a marriage in Long Horsley NBL of Robert James and Susannah Cummings 20 Nov 1796

Thanks Janis, I have seen these entries on the IGI and was surprised by the George instead of Robert. I wondered about mistakes, or that perhaps George and Robert were brothers and Susanna married one after the other. Certainly needs further investigating. On Robert's (the son) marriage cert he lists Robert as being his father, which is why I have left Susanna's surname as a blank until I am quite sure she is the right Susanna for Robert - although I do think it is likely. I'll order the film from the LDS.

Elizabeth

It can get confusing! I did notice on the Edlingham records that there were a couple of births (if I remember correctly, but I know there was at least one) with the parents as George and Susannah. There was only the one with Robert and Susannah. Good luck!
