I'm new to Ancestry and sorry if I'm replying on the wrong board, but an off-shoot of my searchings shows the 1841 census listing Joseph (age 60) and Elizabeth Hodgson (45) living on Flag lane in Sunderland, Durham, ENG...they might be Mary's grandparents, as their 18-year-old son William certainly would have been marriage age in 1851 and could possibly be Mary's father.
