I would be grateful for any information from relatives or descendants of Daniel Clabburn (Norwich 1893) who married Maud Martha Elizabeth Buck (nee Clark - Bolton 1892) in Norwich in 1919. I believe they had two children, William (1921) and Ellen (1920). Any help would be much appreciated.

Do you have Daniel's birth certficate ?

You can see on the 1901 census that there are quite a few Clabburn's in Norwich.

Post if you need more help

Not as yet - So far I only have Maud's first marriage certificate (to Alfred Buck, in February 1916 - he was killed in 1917). I just got interested in the Clabburn family through Maud, my great Aunt, as my Grandfather had always said that his Sister Maud died when she was 11 - I suppose I hoped a living descendant of Maud's might just have some information.
I do know Daniel's parents were William Jonathan Clabburn and Mary Ann Spauls and that Daniel and his brothers all fought in WW1 - Thomas and William were killed.
Thanks for responding - It looks like I will have to get some more hard evidence before I can find anyhting else

Hi Jayne
Thanks for all this - Maud suddenly appears because she was born in Bolton - her father Charles (my great grandfather) was a steward at a club there, but became ill with TB and came home to Norwich for his last years. He died in 1896 so by 1901, Percy (my grandfather) and his sister Maud were orphans (don't know what happened to Elizabeth, their mother, but I think she died in 1897) and were 'lodging' with the Harrisons (and I don't know what connection there was with the Harrisons as yet). After this Percy went on to have a family but we were always under the impression Maud died at 11 - which is why I was suprised to find her married and why I wondered if there were any of Maud and Daniel Clabburns descendants still alive who may be able to fill in pieces of our families story.
Thanks for your interest
Wendy

This may seem a weird suggstion but what about looking in the Norwich phone book at the library and writing to any Clabburns, asking if they have a Maud in their family past ?

Anyway, good luck with your search..x

Hi Wendy,

Are you still researching? My father Daniel (1922-2006) was the son of Daniel and Maud and the brother of William and Ellen.

Regards,

Paul Clabburn

Hi Paul
This is really great! We are very distantly related as far as I can see. Maud Martha Elizabeth Clark (1892) was my grandfather, Percy's, sister. Percy had two families - 5 children to Alice Browne and another 5 to my grandma Winifrid Lucy Ives - my mum is their youngest daughter, Barbara.
Mum had always been told by Percy that his sister Maud died when she was about 11 - it was only when I started doing the family research that I found her marriages to first Alfred and then Daniel. Percy died long before we found this out so we will never know why he said she died - whether it was because of a dipute so they cut each other out of their lives or whether he had been told she died. Hopefully you may have some infoamtion about Maud that we could share. I have trced the family back to William Clark 1768. looking forward to hearing from you
Wendy

Hello Wendy,

I have quite a lot of info but it is a sad story, I warn you in advance.

Tell me, I'm a tad confused. Are you in the UK? I put in "Daniel Clabburn" into Google the other night and came up with your post. It's never done that before and I check every month or so, just to see if anything comes up.

I'm happy to give you my email address if you want, might be easier for me to jot things down rather than try to fill in this box.
Paul
