Denver or Downham workhouse c1800 info wanted
I have found my ancestor Thomas MILLS and his wife Hester MILLS who were paid by the overseers of the parish of Denver,Norfolk to look after the poor of the parish in the workhouse, sometimes known as Downham House.
This was for the period c1788-1801 according to the Accounts of the Overseers of the Poor. I can only find accounts of a workhouse in Downham Market in this time frame and I think this might be the place as it is the next parish and only a mile or so away.
Does anyone know where this workhouse for Denver poor was located?
Later maps c1840 show the Downham Union workhouse but I am not sure if this was on the same site as the earlier workhouse which sounds more like a large farmhouse.
Any help most appreciated.
Thanks Glenn
