I have a Baptism Record of William Clarke, b July 11th, 1784, son of William Clarke and Ann, born in Roade, Northamptonshire.
Somehow this comes together with John Clarke, born 1807, married to Mary Bingham 27 Jan, 1828, then after she died he married Mary Haddon Waddons b 1828, m 23 Feb 1857.
The union of Clarke and Bingham produced George b 1828, m Helen Wakefield; Thomas b Jan 1841; and Ann b 1838 m Thomas Kirby 22 Jul 1857.
The Union of Clarke and Waddons produced Arthur John, b 1858, m Elizabeth Jane Banks b 1857 m 18 May, 1880; James b 1859, John b 1861, and Mary Jane (I think she went by Polly, a dressmakers apprentice) b 1866.
Aunty Polly was the guardian of Ethel Crickmay, who I think was the progeny of Frederic Crickmay and Rebecca Clarke perhaps in Hindon, Wiltshire. Ethel was raised by Auntie Polly Clarke, and was fondly received by the Clarkes of Roade.
I have many pictures of the Clarkes dated from the 1860's to the 1890's in Roade. The photographs were taken in various studios, F.W. Burnham, in Brixton S.W.; Blake and Edgar in Bedford; Alexandra Photo in Bedford; W.S. Wright in Olney; F.W. Broadhead in Leicester;A Maxwell and W. Playle both of Bishop's Stortford, and one of the oldest of Auntie Polly and Uncle Jim, with Great Granddad John Clarke taken by W Chattle, High Street in Olney about 1866. Photographs include Clarkes identified as Bert, Jim, Polly, Ginny (married to a Waterman later) Annie, Liza (nee Drage) and more, and need help identifying these people, and their connection with Rebecca. Perhaps Rebecca was also the daughter of John Clarke and Mary Haddon Waddons, but the records I have found don't prove this.
It's a fascinating collection, and no doubt will generate a lot of interest. Looking forward to hearing from you.
