Hi diane
Thank you for replying. Hope you enjoyed the holiday.

I think my connection is through my paternal grandmother, Laura Ann Cattle d 11.1.1947. She was married to Henry Davies buried 11.11.1942. I understand that Lauras father was George Cattle who was formerly a freeman of Beverly and Master of the Houds. That is about the extent of my knowledge. I intend to travel to Hull in February and any info you could give me that would save me precious time would be greatly appreciated. I only have 3 days down there and would like to use it to its fullest.

I will contact you again when I have more information. I do have access to the Mormon church here in Fife but they only have the English index - no bmd certification access. My wife is much luckier though as she is from Fife and can access all of their databases and records.

Hope to hear from you soon

Bob

Dear Bob,
Thanks for the reply. The name George is a very prominent one in the Cattle one and I have many Georges in my line so think we must be related - the question is, which George?!
As you know when Laura Ann died, do you have her birth date or her certificate, marriage certificate etc? This would narrow down her father by giving addresses and occupations etc. We can then go back to the 18C which has taken a lot of hard work and cash but is proved beyond doubt. Our family tree is being co-ordinated by Rob Cattle who lives near York and Rob is busy linking together all the Cattle branches. He has retired and devotes a lot of time to our cause.
Any further info would help tremendously and may save you a journey to Hull or at least focus your search.
By the way, where are you in Fife? Our daughter went to St Andrews and we still have an apartment there which we visit whenever possible. Sadly we will need to sell it this year as my husband has just retired from the RAF and we need somewhere to live!
Hope to hear from you soon.

Best regards,

Dianne

Hello Dianne,
I have a Rebecca Cattle who married John Hanwell of Long Buckby. She died in Oct 1742. She had brothers Thomas and John. Thomas was a plumber, though I don't know what that meant in 1742!
Sorry for the delay, have only just found your message posting.

Hi there
I´m called Jeremy Strang...
My grandfather came from Glasgow way. I believe my great grandmother changed the family name from Dohlin to Strang, which was her maiden name.
Have you found any of this in your search?
Kind regards
Jeremy

Hi Dianne
I wonder if you are still out there?Since our last posts in Jan 2002 I have not been able to research Henry Davies-Laura Ann Cattle any futher.Rob Cattle did send me a copy of his tree for Laura Ann Cattle, for which I was extreamly greatful. However,my search for Henry Davies stopped as I have been unable to find his date or place of birth, even though I have carried out an extensive search.I hope the past seven years have been kind to you and yours, and that your research has gone well.
kind regards
Bob Davies
