Hello, I am looking to share any information about the family of rev.Benjamin Hobson and Rebecca Marshall who lived in the town of Welford. Benjamin was born in 1781 and was a minister of the town for some time. Their son, also Benjamin, was a well known medical missionary in China. I also believe that their daughter Ann (born August 1810 in Welford) married a George Hilliard in Rothersthorpe in 1829.
Thank you,
Tom.

Frederick (James) HOLLAND appears on the 1881 census. Head of the household is John WALMSLEY and his wife Fanny. Frederick is recorded as John's son (there are also two other HOLLAND children recorded as John's). Also with the family (recorded as a lodger) is a Thomas WALMSLEY.

Do you know where the HOLLAND surname comes from? Does Frederick and Susan's marriage certificate name Frederick's father?

Penny

Are you still searching? I have a lot of info about this family. William was born in Hardingstone in 1822 the son of Richard Pell & Mary Fitzhugh, throughout his life he and his sons changed their names several times. Some times they were called Pell, sometimes Fitzhugh and sometimes Fitzhugh Pell. He married Sophia Briggs 1823-1872 in East Haddon 23 Apr 1846 as William Pell. They had another son William John Pell in 1847, he died at the end of 1854 in Northampton so their move to Coventry would have been between 1854-1861. He also married Harriet Briggs, reg. Warwick Dec qu.1873.
Richard married Emma Villers and had 2 children Charles Richard Fitzhugh 1873-1937 & Herbert Fitzhugh 1879-?, he also married Eliza Hincks in Coventry Dec qu 1888, he died in 1921.
William married Mary Ann French in Coventry Jun qu 1878, they had at least 11 children. He moved back to Kingsthorpe and died there Dec qu 1926.
You have possibly discovered this by now but if not hope it makes sense. Get back to me if you require anymore information.
Hi Dianne
I wonder if you are still out there?Since our last posts in Jan 2002 I have not been able to research Henry Davies-Laura Ann Cattle any futher.Rob Cattle did send me a copy of his tree for Laura Ann Cattle, for which I was extreamly greatful. However,my search for Henry Davies stopped as I have been unable to find his date or place of birth, even though I have carried out an extensive search.I hope the past seven years have been kind to you and yours, and that your research has gone well.
kind regards
Bob Davies

Does anyone have any information about the really early Pearson's in Spratton, especially when they arrived in Spratton, probably from East Yorkshire before 1419. Early spellings of the name are Pirson, Person, Persoun.

Has anyone else traced their direct male line back to THOMAS PEARSON, of Spratton, Northamptonshire, temp. Rich. III, and handwritten is the date 1483 which may refer to the date he was granted his Coat of Arms, and if so did you get any useful information from the College of Arms?

I'm also descended from Brookes Wright, bap 1 May 1709, married Ann Worley through his eldest son John, bap 10 Jan 173. He married Abigail Goodman 8 May 1750 and their daughter Ann, bap 14 Oct 1753 married Jonathan Blencowe, a widower, 11 Apr 1774. The name Brookes does seem to crop up a lot in the Wrights of Brington - does anyone know anything about the reason for this? I've got 5 Brookes in my tree, the earliest baptised 1633.

Also, do you all know about The List of Families in Brington for use of Viscountess Althorp - it dates to Jan 1780, and through this I discovered that Ann, 27, spins and is a drunken and scold! I've just realised to my horror that on my tree (Pearson/Pigg) I haven't listed the source for this information - have to go back through my disorderly notes. All the families in Brington at the time are listed.

Another wonderful source of info was Aspects of Brington by Dr Stephen Mattingly. Blast - just checked on amazon.co.uk and it's currently unavailable, but if you google it then some sellers have it 2nd hand. I've found it invaluable. Anyway, I've saved some relevant info from the book onto my tree as stories. There are also some interesting snippits from early wills - looks like the Wrights were flamboyant characters.

Harry and Alice had 12 children, Joan, George (my dad), Isobel, Tom, John, Christine, Fred, Albert and Phyllis. Babies John and Mary died in infancy when the family lived in Towcester.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Sandra
PS G.F.Perkins married Lucy who was the church organist.
