I am looking for information related to a George Castle born in 1809, he is my Great Great Grandfather.

He immigrated to America before 1840. He married a Delilah Wilson in 1840 in Goshen, Orange County, New York.

They immigrated to Canada and had 6 children:
Elizabeth
Edmund Vincent
Albert Edward
James David
George Samuel
Delilah Amanda

I am looking for immigration date, verify birth date, parents name.

The only information I have to go on is 1851 Canada Census that states George Castle is 42 years old and from Oxford, England.

Any information would be appreciated. There is a chance that 1809 may be 1819 for birth date.

I found out today that because he was British born that he probably did not immigrate to Canada because British People were consider citizens in Canada.

He was probably allowed in with out the need od papers possible.

There are 9 possible baptism's for Oxford between 1806 & 1819 so would need to narrow this down a tad

have you tracked him on all your census - any further clues?

Have you seen the entry for his marriage as, should show his fathers name at least

Have you seen his death cert as this can oftentimes show further info like how long in country etc

I have the 1851-1852 Canada Census that shows George Castle being 42 years old and was born in Oxford, England and religion was Church of England.

I don't have access to 1861 Canada Census but a cousin of mine states that he died after 1861. Canada Death index doesn't start until 1869 to 1934. I could not find him or Delilah in that index.

Their youngest child Delilah was born in 1858. She was living with her oldest sister in the 1881 Canada Census. She did not marry until 1884. Her sisters' last name was Secord and one of the witnesses at her wedding was Joseph Secord, Elizabeths' husband.

I am in the process of contacting her side, Delilahs', of the family. They live in Washington State to see if any information was passed down through the years. I am also working on Elizabeths' side of the family for the same thing.

I can not find George or Delilah in the 1871 Canada, Ontario, Census. To this I think they passed away between 1861 and 1869.

Their marriage was in Goshen, Orange County, New York. They were married on December 24, 1840. The witnesses that were there are H. Ball and wife, John W. Budd, Harriet Budd, and Cornelia Hawkins. Delilahs' last name was Wilson.

If you do get any further concrete info then do give a shout and I will see what I can dig up for you. Regretfully there is an Oxford as is in a Town and also Oxfordshire which is the county and, people often refer to the later as the former

I would like to know if there are middle names in the information that you are using.

The reason I am asking is because George Castle 5th child was named George Samuel Castle born in Lower Canada around 1851-1854.

The George I am looking for may have a middle name of Samuel born aroudn 1809.

No, none shown with an Samuel middle name - may well be though that George senior or mum's dad was a Samuel...

I found another person doing genealogy on the Castle family and left a message with him. In his information he states that George Castle was born in 1819 in Oxfordshire, England. I am trying to get him to give me tangible evidence that his date is correct. If I get something I will be passing it on here.
