I am looking for information on the family of James ALLEN, born about 1799 in Deddington, Oxon, parents and siblings unknown . He married Elizabeth MESSER or MERCER at Middleton Stoney in 1821. Any information on his parents and siblings would be wonderful as I have only traced his married family from the 1841 Census onwards
Best wishes,
Mike Horton

Dear Lyn,
Many thanks for the marriage reference and although I knew of most of the children, I did not have the baptismal dates. All your information is new and much appreciated. I also appreciate your giving the sources as I think that you should always have these if possible.
Best wishes,
Mike Horton

There is no James ALLEN being baptised at Deddington circa 1799. There are ALLENS but none are a James.

Years searched 1794-1819.

None are baptised circa 1799 at Duns Tew or Steeple Barton.

Lyn.

Dear Lyn,
Many thanks for checking the baptism of James ALLEN. I only thought that he came from Deddington because he is listed as such in the 1851 and 1861 Census. In 1841 he was born in the county and in 1861 he says Barton. I have now just found an Ancestry marriage reference which states that he was of Bicester so I do not know what to think now.
Best wishes,
Mike Horton

I did check Bicester and there was a James ALLEN baptised at Bicester in 1802 but a burial 1803 for James ALLEN was also recorded as well, so it scratched this one off the list.

There are definitely a few ALLENs baptised there only one James in that time frame.

I know what you are going through as I am having the same difficulty with one of mine.

Cheers,

Lyn.
