Thanks Peter, I am related to Geo Ratt b 24 April 1800, Hambledon who 1st married Jane Bacon and 2nd married Sarah Roughton (nee Alvey). Is your GFather the son of John Ratt born 1834/5 Nottingham? We are obviously related but I cant work out the connection as yet! My mother can remember Julia Ratt sister to John Ratt. Other siblings were Ann, William, Hannah, Jane, Joseph and another George. do you have these people on your family tree? Regards, Rosemary

Hi Wratt descendants,
George Wratt married Jane Bacon and lived in Nottingham before emigrating to NZ in 1841. Jane Bacon was probably the sister of my gggrandfather John Bacon (1813-1853), son of Joseph and Ann Dodson. A Wratt family journal written by Jane's grandaughter names Joseph and the siblings of my Jane- the names are correct. What I cannot understand is why my Jane Bacon would marry in the parish of Walesby in North Notts instead of at St Mary parish church Nottingham where she was baptised and the parish where she was brought up. Just to muddy waters further a Jane Bacon did marry in St Mary in 1819 and the bridegroom was not george Wratt. The parish register does not give age of bride or names of parents or address of bride and witnesses did not include a Bacon in the Walesby wedding or the Nottingham wedding. The Jane who married in Nottingham did not become a widow and then marry George Wratt. She had several children in the 1820s with her husband of the 1819 wedding.

Dear rosemary hagge, I noticed your post and it meantions several names that I am looking under trying to find someone named Lynn Robinson who resided in Blenheim in 1966. Some of Lynn's family (an old established family in the town) was either named Ratt, Watt,Wratt, or variations on that spelling or possibily Pratt. The last known address was 32 Wallingford Way, Hobsonville. The Ratt or Wratt or Pratt, ect, family owned a business that may have had something to do with packing or possibily a butcher shop. Any help would be appreciated greatly. I have a photo of the Lynn Robinson I am looking for. thank you, Paul
