I live in New Zealand and have traced our ancestors back to Rutland in England. Looking for any information on Francis Ratt born before 1720. Happy to share family data with other Ratt (Wratt) descendants.

Hello Linda,
Have only just discovered this page.
My mother was Lilian Rait daugh. Lewis John Rait [born Ratt] I understand that he had a brother Arthur? who went to NZ in the early 1900's.
Have traced the family back to George Ratt 1/m Mary Beecroft @ Braunston 25.jan.1757, 2/m Mary Wesson @ Hambledon 29.mar.1774, very interested to know if your line is the same? I Shall be away for a couple of days but hope to hear from you.
Regards Peter Moore

Hello , my name is Susan Elizabeth Materi ( nee Harper) My late father's family lives in N.Z. I had a letter from one of the cousins there and he told me that George and Sarah (later married James Harper) Ratt , disembarked in Nelson , from the immigrant sailing ship , "Clifford" in 1842. They would have been my Great Great Grandparents. George died in 1862. Sarah and James Harper had three sons , one , Ernest , my Grandfather. There were two girls I believe and one's name was Maude , who married a Geddes. I have been trying to trace my ancestors for a few years now and have hit a "brick wall". I was just wondering if maybe we might be related. Yours truly , Sue

There is a researcher here in Nelson that is related to that Ratt Family - Email me off list and let me know where you are and I can get in touch with her for you, or give you her address. kiwi@herplace.co.nz. She has written a book about the other side of her family - and I know that she is working on the Ratts at the moment. She has given me some information - let me know what you are interested in.

(Branched off at George Ratt and Mary Wesson m 1757, Issue George 1774(yours) and John 1784(mine)

I do have some more info on George (went to Nelson) but as he is not my line I have not concentrated on him. I will enter it as I have time.

Hope it helps you a bit until then,

Kay

Hi Linda...my GGrandparents were Joseph Wratt who m. Mary Robinson in 1870 and settled in Wairau Valley, Blenheim. I have researched the Robinsons back to 1778 and the Wratt (Ratts) back to Nottingham to the first Geo Ratt C. 1736. Francis Ratt 1758 was the son of Geo Ratt. along with Mary Ratt, John Ratt and George Ratt who 1/m. Margaret Millar and 2m/ Mary Willoughby. It appears Peter Moor and yourself are also related to myself. Please contact me so as we can share latest research. Rosemary
