I was really thrilled to find your message about
Fiddler Brown as I have been trying to trace his decendents for my own family history. I thought you might be interested in what I know about the family too.
I have a Brown connection with
Burley on the Hill
William Brown married Mary Glenford in
Burley 1776
They had 8 children that I am aware of
Henry was a son and so was Francis (my direct line)
Another son John married Susanna
Royce and it was their son Willam
Royce Brown born 1828 who was
Fiddler Brown
I understand from another message from you that you have access to a photograph of fiddler brown If you could possibly let me have a scan of the picture you mention I would be thrilled I did know of its existance as my grandmother (born
Greetham 1905) who died a few years back said there was a picture of him with his fiddle and she actually knew him as a little girl.
When I first started looking into the family hisory she gave me a cutting from the paper reporting the funeral of William (
Fiddler Brown) There seems to have been 2,000 at the funeral. The paper cutting is very old but I could try and scan it for you.I have transcribed it so I could send a copy of that too.
He was apparently married twice so if you have any further information about your great grandmothers Brown
family I would love to know about it. From looking at the dates Ann may have been a daughter from his first marriage.
