Does anyone know where I can find copies of the Greetham Parish records. - I have been to the Wigston Records Office a number of times but they don't have them.

I am specifically looking for the marriage of George Spriggs to Mary Ann Helem circa 1847.

also, If anyone has access to the 1861 Rutland census I would be interested if the above persons an be found?.

~ I have the Leicestershire 1861census if anyone needs any look-ups.

I have been looking over these at the LDS Family History Center on microfilm. Unfortunately they have now been returned or I could have looked for you... sorry. Would recommend you try the LDS if there is one close to you.

I had access to Greetham Bishops Transcripts (LDS film, 1999578).
I don't know if you found your marriage, but I couldn't. There is a gap in marriages in the register from 1847 to 1857.
There is a George Spriggs marriage, Dec 20 1842. George Spriggs 23 marries Ann Noon 19. Fathers John Spriggs & Matthew Noon. There is one child listed to George and Ann, Emily, bap.20 mar 1844. From 1848 to 1855 there are 5 children born to George & Mary Ann. (Sarah Ann, 1848, George 1850, John 1852, Elizabeth 1853, Mary 1855).
Am guessing you had all this already, sorry I couldn't help with the marriage you were looking for.
Would be interested in any connection you have with the Garfoot or Christian families in Greetham

George Spriggs married Mary Ann Helem at Pickworth Parish church on 13th July1846.They were my gggrand parents and I have found both their grave in Greetham Parish Churchyard and the house where they lived for many years. However I have drawn a total blank with Mary Ann's family.

George & Mary Ann SPRIGGS are my Great-great-great-grandparents too

Since I posted that message I have got back as far as George SPRIGGS' Grandparents. (I think I have a photo of George somewhere)

In my notes I have Mary Ann's parent's as John Brookshaw Helem and Elizabeth Avery.

John Brookshaw Helem was born circa 1794 in Gunthorpe, Northamptonshire.
Elizabeth Avery was born circa 1799 in Little Casterton, Rutland.

Mary Ann was born in Pickworth, and she at least three brothers that I know of ;-John, William, and I think Thomas.

I have connections with Garfoot from Greetham. From what I have found out so far I think my Gt Grandfather and Gt.Gt.Grandfather were both born there.

I have done quite a lot of work on the Garfoots from the various resources available to me via the internet and the FHC and may be able to give you some more information. You may also be related to my husband. He is descended from Charles & Eliza Garfoot through their son John(b.1848).

I've been doing a bit more online research just using the censors but from what I can work out I think I also descend from Charles & Eliza through their son Arthur, born 1864 and his son Albert Alfred born 1892. Albert Alfred was my Grandfather. Arthur would have been one of John's brothers?
I also think Charles descended from Charles Garfoot & Lucy Pilmore Garfoot both born around 1790 and lived in the Greetham area, although it looks like my line of the Garfoots moved to Bourne in the late 1800's. Are you from that area?

I dont konw if it is any help but my Brother & Sister in law own Garfoot Cottage in Greetham.

Im a descendant of a francis Garfoot who gives his
birthplace as Greetham on the yearly census. His father was Charles Garfoot and I can verify this on Francis's marriage certificate which I have. Any assistance would be appreciated. His birthdate is given as 1811. Thankyou Helen Newbold
