I have 1901 census of George W Burgess 24y Born Warwickshire Birmingham, coal miner driver, with wife Eliza 22y born Chelmarsh with one boarder and 4 visitors.
Address New England, Highley. No children - but I note Bertha born 1901 - after census taken? (although notes I have that are not proven) their marriage 1898 and a George Wm Burgess born Sept 1899 - died 0 years 1899. Almost definitely one of 'our lot'
Hope it's helpful.
Marg

Sarah J Gough was a sister to Eliza Burgess, Bertha was born in the June qtr of 1901. I did not know about the George William in 1899, I just do not seem to be able to locate them after this, I have searched the local burials and even looked round the grave yard.
I am also trying to fit in a Mrs Ann Burgess who lived at 12 Clee View Highley in 1936

Hi Steve,

All my notes on this family come from census or pairing from the free BMD and GRO. Except for Edith, which I have certificates and census. I have a brother, John Thomas Burgess married to Ann Walford in 1902 he may have died 1931.
If you want to compare my scribbles with your notes email me privately. Marg

My maternal grandmother lived at 12 Clee View Highley. Her name was Ann Burgess and she was a Walton I am fairly sure.

Marge,
My relatives were Walfords also.
Is there an easy way to sort us all out?
John

The transcripts of the 1881 + 1891 census I emailed to you(have you received them? any questions on info? answer privately) will tell you your grandfather's (John Thomas Burgess) family of that time. Compare his age, place of birth and parents with any information on any birth - marriage certificates you have. The 1891 clearly shows New England as their address and you know that is where they lived. Use the free bmd website for later marriages, births, deaths. After about 1912 for births, the maiden name of mother is listed. I have Edith's line as proven by certificates.
