Sarah Pinches married Tom (?) Gwilliam and had several children , one named Edith May. Edith May married Thomas Eli Edmunds and they are my grandparents ( dead before I was born ).
Sarah remarried and became Sarah Friend ( Phillip ), having one last daughter, Dorothy.
Does anyone have any info on Sarah Pinches ? or Tom (?) Gwilliam ?
They were proabaly married around 1880 in the Wem area.
Any ideas on how to trace further back would be gratefully recieved and if anyone out there is a distant cousin also researching these people, I'd love to swap trees !

I have a Sarah Pinches in my line, but she is a bit early for you, born 1770 to John Pinches and Elizabeth Lawley, brothers Thomas, John and Richard. These are from Cound, which is in the area. Just in case you can make the connection.

Well, possibly ! Can you give me any dates and/or other info that would help me pinpoint a connection ? I've only gone back to the mid 1800's with my Gwilliams so far.
My Great Grandfather was a Thomas Gwilliam, born 1860 in Anscroft , Shropshire. He died in 1890, aged 29, leaving 5 kids and his widow Sarah ( nee Pinches )The kids were Edith May, Ellen, Emily, Tom and Alice

My Father was Frank Gwilliam,b 1899,d 1975, lived around Attleboro Ma. son of Edward Gwilliam,b,Shropshire,27 Sep 1866, d,13 May 1946,Norton Ma. emigrated to US in 1886, reportedly from Berrington, Shrop. along with his brother Thomas who also lived in Norton and died there. Family lore says he had a brother John who remained in Shropshire at Acton Burnell. Their father was John Gwilliam,b,abt 1828 and d, 30 dec 1881.location not known. Edward married Laura Adey,b,6 Feb 1864,in Wednesfield,Shrop,she d,26 Sep1948 at Norton and they had married at Mansfield Ma,31 Oct 1888. Edwards mother was Catherine Rose Jones,b,abt 1827,at Meade Brace,Shrop. and d,6Nov 1881.Looking for further information about these familys.

My maternal Grandfather was John Gwilliam b.1855.Lived in the Berrington area of Shropshire near Acton Burnell.Joined the Army about 1873.Spent many years in India.Married my
Grandmother Emily Vokins in Birmingham 1895.Returned to Shropshire.Had four children Margaret,Alice Jane,Dora and John.Family moved to Redditch Worcestershire,where John died in 1946 Aged 91/92
At the time of his wedding,Johns father also John was listed as deceased.His occupation was as a Shepheard

My maternal grandfather was Richard Gwilliam. Born Cantlop Shropshire 24th Sept. 1867.His father , John , was a shepherd , born in Ratlinghope in 1823. He married Jane from Pontesbury. They had 12 surviving children.They had a son , John , born in 1855 in Longdon Shropshire. John went to serve in India 21stSept. 1879.
My grandfather , Richard , became a teacher and went to Bodmin aged 19 to teach. In 1895 he married my grandmother , Mary Sperring Parker, in Chilcompton.
If anyone has any more information , especially going back another generation , I would love to hear it.
